Just posted this on my FB:

Jeez what a day! R.i.P 'Fletch' 🥲
Having been lucky enough to tour and hang out with Depeche Mode for quite a few years now, the way they respected and treated me over the years through all my losses really resonated with me.
During tours it was always Fletch's car or van I jumped in to and from the gigs, a proper stand up guy with a heart of gold.
I remember years ago in some swanky 5* hotel in Stockholm, I had breakfast with an Italian girl and we drunk and ate, I was looking at the prices 😅 and Fletch popped his head round the corner, said "Hello" and that was it, I went up to pay and the waiter said, the gentleman that popped down earlier with the glasses already paid, that was Fletch!
We weren't close, I have no numbers or contacts but they looked at me as family and I do them.
RiP Fetch, Thanks! x

big fan of their music and he always came across as a top bloke, and apparently one of the main reasons the band kept going through the hard times. RIP Fletch

Another big group from my youth. The sound of Basildon.

After what Dave Gahan went through with drugs, I'm amazed he outlasted anybody.

RIP

Just can't get enough

Re: DM's Andy Fletcher RIP
Nice story Def.

I was a huge fan of DM back in the day, local band and all that.
Me and a mate went to The White Horse many moons ago on a Monday night for a quiet game of pool. Fletch walks in with Gore to do the same and we end up playing a few games of doubles. We decided not to mention anything about DM, just enjoyed the moment and I think they appreciated it.

Anyway, it’s such a sad loss, RIP.

Very sad news. As someone who left Essex at a young age I am always proud of the great music that we have produced. Seen Depeche a few times over the years, the last time was at London Stadium. Thanks to Defjam and Ray for sharing those stories. RIP Fletch.

Re: DM's Andy Fletcher RIP
I loved DM when I was a teenager, although wouldn't say I was a massive fan as in following them closely, etc. Just loved their songs. 'See You' was my favourite.

RIP.

Re: DM's Andy Fletcher RIP
Violator is a classic album. I remember a while after it came out I went to Russia, which had clearly been flooded with bootleg tapes. Every bus and taxi I was in it was playing.

Saw them in Austin half a dozen years ago. Glad I did.

Re: DM's Andy Fletcher RIP
Terrible news never met him but I recorded a few songs at the "Lower Whopping Conker Company" in Romford and that's where DM made some of their demo songs around the same time early 80's.

R.I.P. Another life taken far to young.

Re: DM's Andy Fletcher RIP
I met him at the Astoria at a Martin Gore solo gig. Bumped into him at the bar, he was a Chelsea fan and we were playing them next game. We had a chat about the game, "we'll do you, leave it out your shit" etc...I bought him a beer. Then he shook my hand and off he went, didn't get me one back so I don't have that as a claim to fame..
